Sitemap Submission Automated For Our Clients

Sitemaps are a way to tell Google, Bing, Ask.com, etc. about pages on your site they might not otherwise discover. In its simplest terms, an XML (Extended Markup Language) Sitemap—usually called Sitemap is a list of the pages on your Web site. Creating and submitting a Sitemap helps make sure the search engines know about all the pages on your site, including URLs that may not be discoverable by their normal crawling process. Web crawlers usually discover pages from links within the site and from other sites. Sitemaps supplement these data and speeds up the indexing of pages on your site.

The major search engines are putting a lot of emphasis on promoting sites that keep current and make changes often. Dynamic sites are being promoted in the rankings and static site that change hardly at all are being demoted. So we've decided to automate the Sitemap submission for all our client's sites.

Automatic Weekly Updates and Submissions - Every week we'll re-crawl your Web site to find any pages added, edited, or removed, and we'll then rebuild your XML sitemap and submit the updated version to the major search engines.

Broken Link Detection - During our crawl we'll detect and repair any broken links we find. Not only does clicking on a bad link negatively impact your customer's experience, it impacts how the search engines rank your site.

The search engines don't guarantee they'll crawl or index all of your URLs. However, they use the data in your Sitemap to learn about your site's structure, which will allow them to improve their crawler schedule and do a better job crawling your site in the future.

Local Directory Checklist for Our Clients

A recent study reveals that people rely on the Internet – especially search engines – when looking for information about local restaurants and other businesses. In fact Google has started adding local listing along with regular site information during a search.

To increase visibility for all of these local business searches, why not get listed on as many in the list below as you can? Following is a list of important business listing Web sites your site should be on:

  • Citysearch - Add your business listing or claiming your business page on Citysearch, so you can manage details like hours, address and phone number, view page analytics through a dashboard, add an offer to attract customers, communicate with customers through an integrated Twitter feed and promote their Facebook business page.
