We'd like to congratulate Hotel Matador for being the winner of this month's free site hosting. At the beginning of each month we will call up our own site's homepage. Whomever's site is the featured site when the page loads will get FREE hosting of one domain for one month. It's just our way of saying thank you.
The Heartbleed vulnerability, which leaves transaction
over an HTTPS connection vulnerable is truly causing almost everyone a major
headache. The advice is to change your password at any site that uses the
HTTPS:// connection AFTER the organization
notifies you they've sealed the vulnerability.
There are hackers sending out phishing e-mails related to Heartbleed. One of these tries to trick users into giving passwords that have not been compromised yet!
Litigable companies are performing systematic canvassing of the entire Internet to see what's vulnerable and what isn't. You're advised to watch out for any e-mails (or scam phone calls) that relate to the Heartbleed bug. Any e-mails with links SHOULD NOT be followed, any attachments SHOULD NOT be opened, and in case the e-mail wants wants you to change a password, wait until that site (like your bank site) has announced they are patched (fixed), and then go directly to the site (like your bank site) and not click on any link in an e-mail to get there.
You may not have noticed, but we webmeisters have been wringing our hands of late because of the Semalt Crawler that's been visiting everyone's site. The crawler hits your site and then immediately leaves. Our concern was that Google would see those visits as individuals that immediately didn't like your site and left. This immediate action of leaving a site is called Bounce Rate and is part of the major search engines' ranking algorithms.
Sites with high Bounce Rates lose ranking because the sites are believed to be lacking compelling content. So the numerous visits by the Semalt Crawler was increasing the Bounce Rate for our client's sites. But not to worry, we went in and placed a block on all our client's sites so the Semalt Crawler can't visit your site. If you check the exTreme Tracking counter for your site (the little world icon at the bottom of your homepage) and notice visits from semalt.com let us know so we can get your site blocked.
Mobile-friendly Pages Turn Visitors Into Customers
Consumers expect to find information they want, when they want it - especially when they’re on the go. A study by Google shows that 67% of users are more likely to buy or make reservations from a mobile-friendly site. Without a mobile-friendly site you’ll be driving users to your competition. So if that site’s not yours, you’ll be missing out in a big way.
Help these folks by visiting their site. All ya'll will remember how hard it is to get those initial "hits" so the search engines notice your site. So take a minute and visit their site.
