The bad guys are getting quite
inventive, especially with big brands. They are now causing confusion using
the UPS logo with a phishing attack on folks at their
house. Have you ever noticed that when people get confused, they go blank
for a moment? That is what the phishers are consciously exploiting: "Did I
really send something that day? Perhaps it was another day and they got it
wrong? What -is- this?" ~CLICK~
Big brand hijacking is extremely popular with phishers these days. Be especially careful when you get e-mails using the following brands: UPS, FedEx, Amazon, DHL, Verizon Wireless, Internal Revenue Service, Better Business Bureau, Bank of America, and Facebook. Just the FedEx brand alone is ‘stolen’ daily and used in 1-5 million (!) phishing e-mails.
Here are some items to check on any e-mail you receive that you're not sure of.
‘From’ and ‘Reply-To’: the domain is made up to look official but is false.
‘Subject’: Legitimate e-mails use grammatically correct language.
Content: You are being asked to click on a link to avoid a negative consequence.
Hyperlink: Hovering over the link shows a domain
unrelated to the business in the e-mail.
Google announced they will begin taking into account a
new signal in their rankings: the number of valid copyright removal notices
they receive for any given site. Sites with high numbers of removal notices
may appear lower in search results.
Since Google started watching copyright removal notices they've been given much more data by copyright owners about infringing content online. In fact, Google is now processing copyright removal notices every day - more than 4.3 million URLs in the last 30 days alone. Google will now be using these data as a signal in their search ranking algorithm.
While this new signal will influence the ranking of some search results, Google won’t remove pages from search results unless they receive a valid copyright removal notice from the rights owner. In addition to the pure number of copyright removal notices, Google also checks other factors that influence the reputation of a site.
If you receive a copyright removal notice from Google, you should immediately send it to us so we may remove the content from your Web site if the claim is valid. If the claim is a false copyright removal request you'll need to send a counter notice. Google provides a link to a counter notice in the copyright removal notices.
Remember, the new copyright signal is only one of hundreds signals Google employs to determine the position of a site in the search results. Just remember that Google is watching where you get your site's content.
Is Your Site Discouraging Mobile Visitors?
With mobile device usage skyrocketing, a mobile-friendly Web pages are practically essential. A mobile site means your customers can access information on the go, wherever they may be. It also means they’ll be more likely to share your site with friends, since they’ll be able to pull it up and show it to others, even when not at a computer.

percent of mobile users have cursed at their devices while making a
purchase; 11 percent have screamed at their devices and 4 percent of mobile

The time hasn't yet arrived where we suggest shutting down your Web site and jumping into mobile 100 percent. But it is time for providing visitors with multichannel engagement — testing the waters to find ways of augmenting sales and reservations through mobile. Augmenting sales through the mobile channel rather than relying on sales directly from mobile shoppers is the best approach to take in the current environment.
Most of today’s smartphone and tablet users rely on their devices for searching, browsing and gathering information, and not necessarily making purchases. Mobile consumerism is still very much a work in progress, but the convenience of finding a business’ Web pages while stuck in traffic or in line at the bank is a significant draw for users.
Mobile customers may not intend on making purchases directly from their smartphones, but they will very likely want to research products, compare prices or simply find a brick-and mortar establishment. You've got to make the process easy for them, or they will move to the next option without hesitation.
