Your participation in Google Places is considered when Google ranks Web sites. Extremely important that you have claimed your business because you can add salient details about your business - not just name, address, and phone number, but also business category, hours of operation, types of payment accepted, and area served. And all of this for free! The information, including a small map, appears in relevant Google search results. The more places Google sees information about your business, the more relevant your site will be in a search and the better ranking your site will achieve.
As review sites such as Yelp and TripAdvisor become ever more popular and important for your business we'd like to alert you to a growing trend - blackmail. The blackmail occurs when a guest threatens to write a negative review unless a demand for a refund, upgrade, or other request is met. Most of the review sites now have a way for you to proactively report these threats before a corresponding review is potentially submitted. Immediate reporting of blackmail threats can supplement their investigative procedure and help them prohibit blackmail reviews from ever being published.
It’s important to visit the review site and submit a report as soon as possible after an incident occurs, ideally the same day. Fortunately most guests do not follow through with such threats, but it’s still important to submit your report as soon as possible ensuring a record is made prior to a potential blackmail review being submitted.
Mobile Users Continue To Increase
The number folks using mobile devices to view the Web is
growing at a phenomenal pace, and is forecast to overtake the desktop Web
use in 2014. That means more users will access the Internet by mobile device
than a desktop PC for the first time.
Approximately 900 million people currently access the Web with mobile devices, compared to 1.4 billion desktop Internet users. In 2014, mobile Web users should outpace desktop users and by 2015, the number of mobile Web users is expected to grow to 2 billion.
According to the August, 2011 edition of eMarketer, 33% of mobile users are looking to access local Internet content with relation to their GPS location. This means more people than ever will want to view your site using a wireless network and a mobile device such as a Smartphone or tablet computer. It also means if you want to survive and thrive, you have to adapt, and make your Web site mobile friendly.
We're here to help you. Contact us about adding some mobile friendly content to your site and stay ahead of your competition.
Help these folks by visiting their site. All ya'll will remember how hard it is to get those initial "hits" so the search engines notice your site. So take a minute and visit their site.
