In This Issue:
Recycling Printer Ink Cartridges
As many
of you know, I train guide dogs for the visually impaired. The school I volunteer
with is
Guide Dogs
of Texas. They are collecting printer ink cartridges
for recycling and fund raising.
Click HERE to read more about their project. Before you throw out that empty ink
cartridge, please give me a call and I'll come pick it up for
recycling by Guide Dogs of Texas. If you are one of our many clients
not fortunate enough to live in 'God's Country' you may mail the
cartridges to me and I'll discount the shipping charges from your
bill.
We
thank you in advance to taking the time to help with the worthwhile
project.
Link Building
Link
building in general is an important part of making sure your site
ranks well in the search engines. Google and many of the other search
engines include link popularity as part of the way they evaluate the
web pages they include in the search engine databases. Links are seen
as a positive "vote" towards the quality of the web page. Each
individual page acquires link popularity based on the pages that link
to it. Google and Yahoo both have toolbars showing the page rank of
pages you visit, so you can use these tools to get a good estimate of
your pages' link popularity. It is not necessary to get totally caught
up in the minutia of which types of links from which types of pages
are the most important. The bottom line is this: acquiring links
pointing back to your website, particularly links from sites covering
the same or related topics as your site, is helpful in the overall
scheme of search engine ranking.
The key is to look at the website content from your visitor's point of
view. They clicked a link on your website to find more information,
make sure the content at their destination is worthwhile.
To
maximize the traffic through your reciprocal links, check out
potential link partner's "Links" or "Resource" page:
-
Are
the links useful?
-
Are
the links logically grouped and easy to search?
-
Are
there less than thirty links for each category? You will not get any
traffic from a page that has more than this.
-
Do
they look appealing?
-
Are
the links of a similar or complementary theme to the main Web site?

Don't Forget Your Web Site
Just
looked in this week's newspaper and saw a couple of ads put in by some
of our clients. Again, there was no mention of the Web site at the end
of the article. If you really want to boost the popularity of your
site you MUST push your site address in all advertising, business
cards, letterhead, articles, etc. If you rely solely on search engines
to send traffic to your site, you're missing out on a valuable way of
getting the word out about your site.
Recent Clients
We'd
like to welcome the following clients to HUEY Productions. If you have
the time, please visit their site to help them get their visitor
numbers (hits) going.
