Random Free Hosting Site
We'd like to
congratulate Burg's
Corner for being the winner
of this month's free hosting site. At the beginning of each month we
will call up our own site's homepage. Whomever's site is the featured
site when the page loads will get FREE hosting of one domain for one
month. It's just our way of saying thank you.
Limiting
Spam
Next time you receive an unsolicited
e-mail. think twice before clicking the link that's offered as a way
of removing yourself from the sender's distribution list, unless you
know it is a valid e-mail from a reputable company.
Unscrupulous spammers deceptively offer
these links, usually located at the bottom of the message, as a way of
confirming your e-mail address is valid and then proceed to spam away.
To defend yourself against the 100
billion unwanted e-mails that The New Yorker reports are fired
at the world's computers every day, try these tips:
-
Turn off read
receipts in your e-mail account because this function also provides
spammers with confirmation of your e-mail address.
-
Be selective about
sharing your e-mail address, especially in public forums such as
chat rooms.
-
Open an additional
e-mail account for use outside friends and family.
-
As for additional
spam filters. We have a very effective spam filtering system on our
mail server by default. But we may increase the filtering upon
request. Please understand that, as the amount of filtering
increases, so does the chance that a valid e-mail will be rejected
along with the spam.
-
Don't forward chain
e-mails. They put your and your friends' addresses into the hands
of countless strangers.
Goggle Alerts
Had anything good said about your
business on the Internet lately? Even more importantly, have you had
anything derogatory said about your business lately on the Internet?
There's a painless way of periodically searching the whole Internet
for references to your business (or any other news you're interested
in).
Google Alerts are e-mails
automatically sent to you when there are new Google results for your
search terms.
Simply visit the
Google Alerts home page,
enter your search, the type of alert you'd like (News, Web, Video
etc.), how often you'd like us to check for results, and your e-mail
address. When you're done, click the 'Create Alert' button. They'll
send you a confirmation e-mail; clicking the link in this e-mail will
activate your Alert.
You can create and confirm your Alert in one visit on your "Manage
Yours Alerts" page. To access this page, you'll need to sign in to
your Google Account. If you don't yet have an account, please visit
the Google Accounts
home page to create one.
